Hidria

Background

Hidria boasts more than 50 years of tradition in the area of automotive and industrial technologies. In the early 1960s the Slovenian town of Idrija launched the production and assembly of central heating installations, water distribution installations and air conditioning. The 1970s saw the emergence of the first ventilation elements in Godovič, while the first engines for hermetic compressors were exported from Spodnja Idrija to the United States in the 1980s. Hidria has recorded rapid growth in segment of air-conditioning, heating and ventilation in recent years and is one of the largest European corporations in its area of activity. Its development potential focuses on the creation of integral solutions for the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning of buildings and components for HVAC systems.

Although there was hardly a car to be found on Slovenian roads in 1955, the company in Tolmin had a vision and was bold enough to start manufacturing plugs for automobiles. First glow plugs for diesel engines were manufactured in the early 1970s, followed by flywheel magnetos for small petrol engines in a few years.  In the second half of the 1990s, Spodnja Idrija started manufacturing laminations for the automotive industry and later also aluminium components.Today, Hidria is an increasingly important European provider of innovative solutions for car engines and vehicle steering systems. Hidria’s automotive products are incorporated in the automobiles of the leading European trademarks.

Hidria’s key companies joined into the corporation in the period over the last twenty years, after the establishment of the parent company Hidria. After the privatisation, total restructuring and merger of key companies, Hidria has grown into a corporation of 1,800 employees in companies in Slovenia and abroad under the reliable leadership of the President of the company Edvard Svetlik and his colleagues. Our activity is a contribution to the sustainable development of natural and social environments.
