Hidria Institute Automotive

Hidria Institute Automotive develops state-of-the-art automotive technologies. The main development projects of the Institute’s experts are focused on studying the role of ignition systems in diesel engines that are compliant with the future EURO6 standards, development of hybrid electric drive systems, new systems for heating the air in automobiles, delivery vehicles and trucks (PTC air heaters), and electronic ignition of small gasoline engines.

There are ten laboratories in the Institute:

  • laboratory for internal combustion engines
  • laboratory for development and testing of ignition systems
  • laboratory for development of electronics and electrical machines
  • laboratory for sustainable running of electrical machines
  • laboratory for standard testing
  • metallographic laboratory
  • chemical laboratory and
  • prototype workshop

The laboratory for internal combustion engines, which is equipped with the engine test cell with cold chamber, boasts state-of-the-art equipment for testing the operation of internal combustion engines at the temperatures up to -40°C and the tests of sustainable running of engines at different regimes of operation and dynamic measurement of torque and power of internal combustion engines.

Hidria Automotive Institute is also becoming an important education centre in the field of development, project management, work with state-of-the-art programme tools and assurance of quality standards.

The construction of Hidria Institute Automotive was co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
