Last week, the second international CWIEME fair on laminations and rotors this year was held in Berlin. At this fair, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, we presented our innovative solutions in the area of laminations and rotors for electric motor drives of electric and hybrid vehicles.

After February 2020, the Covid-19 epidemic shaped the destiny of fair organisers, as practically no fairs too place during this time. Now our Lamtec business unit with its laminations and rotors was again, after a gap of over two years, presented at an international fair in Ulm in Germany.

One month before the end of the school year, fourth-year students from the Škofja Loka Secondary Technical School visited us in Spodnja Idrija. We presented them employment opportunities, activities in work with young people and various areas and parts of our production.

In 2022, we will start building a new high-tech centre in Spodnja Idrija for the development and manufacture of key parts of electric motors for electric and electrified vehicles of the future; the centre will open in mid-2023. Together with the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Janez Janša, we laid the foundation stone of the project and thus announced our further successful development.

The new all-electric super sports cars Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio, which are currently at the last testing stage before their presentation, will be driven by Hidria’s key parts of electric motors. We will provide rotors and stators for electric drive units for this prestigious brand and in this manner significantly contribute to the automotive trends of the future.

Dr. Terezija Kovačič met Hidria as a scholarship holder. In 2012, after successfully completing her undergraduate studies, she was employed at first as a project manager at Hidria Lamtec and later on she had an opportunity to become a development engineer, where she focuses mainly on the field of die casting. A few days ago, she completed her postgraduate studies and became a doctor of science in the field of metallurgy with the defense of her dissertation entitled Definition of thermodynamic conditions of solidification of Al99.7 on the electrical properties of the rotor.

For the first time in Hidria’s history, the traditional pre-New Year's meeting of the management took place in the virtual form. Owing to the anti-Covid-19 protection measures, 200 participants attended the event via the MS Teams application, where we went thought the past operations and had a look into the future, which is full of challenges and thus also opportunities.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Slovenia (AmCham) declared our cutting-edge Hidria Bond technology - developed by a team of female and male engineers from Hidria - the best business practice in Slovenia, Best of the Best 2020. This made them the Beacon of Change and an inspiration to many companies and employees.

We participated in an interesting and informative pilot project called Diplomatlon 2020/2021. Its idea is that students have 24 hours to respond to a challenge formulated by a company, find a solution and present it. The project was organised by the company Mediade and Zavod 404.
